About Department:
- Sociology is the science of society. The Study of Society in general and the study of India Society in particular is imperative in understanding the society. In this context sociology is considered as the mother of all science. Sociology had attracted the attention of all academicians, planners, sociology has become one of the most important academic subjects in undergraduate and in post-graduate level.
- In this favorable situation our Institution introduced sociology as one of the subjects in our college. The Department of Sociology was introduced in our college during the year 1967-68. Professor K.V Krishnamurthy was the head of the department. Later Professor H.L Sadashivaiah assumed as HOD in 1981.
- In this context Sociology forum in an institution to bridge up the gap between teaching and filed work in other words theory and actual work among the students.

Course Outcomes [CO's]
On the completion B.A Sociology, students are able to:
CO1. Learn origin and improvements or development of Sociology and its relations with social sciences
CO2.Concentrate on different social framework and their utility
CO3.Understand fundamental social concepts, for example, society, social structure, caste system, culture, socialization, social control and so forth
CO4.Concentrate on different social issues and discover solution to them
CO5.Study and comprehend tribal economy, faith, religion, enchantment, family, marriage and their political frameworks
CO6.Learn various thoughts propounded by sociologists namely August Comte, Herbert Spencer, Max Weber, Emile Durkheim and Karl Marx
CO7. Study various methods of social research
CO8.Knowledge of social processes such as cooperation, competition, conflict, accommodation and assimilation
CO9. Knowledge of social, political, cultural, religious diversity of Indian Society.
